Celebrate the 4th at Bangor Muni With Hank, the Giant Pink Hippo

Hey, I Thought I Saw a Giant Pink Animal There Once...

I've heard of people seeing large pink animals at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course before, but it's usually because they spent too long at the 19th hole. Then there was the year people were seeing a black bear on the course. Nothing funny about that one and no alcohol involved. What do you do in that case? Make yourself appear really big and wave your club around to scare it? Wait. I don't want to talk about bears because there's a giant pink animal at the Bangor Municipal Golf Course in Bangor that's no danger to anyone.

There Won't Be Amazing Prizes or Golf Cart Races, But Hank's At the Center of the Fun

On the 4th of July, families are invited to Bangor Muni to see a giant 15-foot inflatable hippo. Seriously, his name is Hank and he's the centerpiece for Hankapalooza, a family-friendly event on the 4th that will offer something for everyone, including food, and fireworks.

Three of the organizers got together to film a video with Hank the Hippo and explain the event to the public. Hilariously, the guy in the middle seems quite confused about what the activities will include. No, Bob. No golf cart races.

Just to recap, without all the wrong info, there will be lots of fun, including a putt putt course, a long drive contest for kids 14 and under, and a chance to chip a ball into Hank's mouth. (You knew he had to be involved somehow!) Then the barbecues will be brought out to cook up some delicious food and wait for the fireworks. Bangor Muni would be a great place to kick back and watch Bangor's incredible fireworks display. Hopefully, Hank isn't afraid of them.
