Four people were arrested during a crack cocaine bust in Bangor, including three people from Detroit, Michigan.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said the arrests were the result of a month-long investigation into the importation and distribution of crack cocaine in Penobscot County. Four people have been arrested and charged with trafficking crack cocaine:

  • Jason Arnold, 24, of Detroit, Michigan
  • Derek Auger, 29, of Brewer
  • Rickey Johnson Jr., 29, of Detroit, Michigan
  • Tyler Smith, 28, of Detroit Michigan

MDEA agents have been investigating the group and, on Friday, stopped and searched Auger's vehicle in Hermon. In addition, a search warrant was executed at a Pier Street residence in Bangor. Seized in those searches were approximately 15 grams of crack cocaine and $4,000 in suspected drug proceeds.

Maine Drug Enforcement Agents from the North Central Task Force in Bangor worked in collaboration with the Bangor Police Department, and Penobscot County Sheriff's Office. The investigation is continuing and officials say more arrests could take place. At last report, all four suspects were still being held at the Penobscot County Jail in lieu of bail.
