Organizers have decided to postpone Greater Bangor Bark for Life, due to Friday's expected inclement weather.

It was a tough decision for the folks who put on the dog-friendly fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. But Friday is expected to be very rainy and chilly, and that would mean muddy dogs with cold owners. Not a very appealing scenario. Plus, this year's Bark for Life has a carnival theme and, let's face it, who wants to stand outside in the rain and play games?

So the decision was made earlier this week to find a new date for Bark for Life. It's a big undertaking, coordinating access to the Hollywood Casino Raceway, availability of the vendors and the participants, who will soon be planning their summer getaways. Finally, the ideal date was determined and Greater Bangor Bark for Life was officially re-scheduled to Friday, September 6th.

The hours remain the same, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and all current registrations will be honored on that date. I'll still be there, serving as co-host, and I believe my buddy Craig Colson will be joining me. We love hanging out with all the dogs and dog-lovers, in the name of raising funds to help provide rides to treatment for local cancer patients.

Updates on the plans will be posted on the Greater Bangor Bark for Life Facebook page. I'll miss seeing all those furry faces on Friday, but will look forward to lots of puppy petting in September.
