A Lewiston baby has died after her mother accidentally ran over her with the car.

The Portland Press Herald reports an SUV driven by 27-year-old Taneisha Thomas struck the woman's 17-month-old daughter outside the Pleasant View Acres Complex, where they lived at around  o'clock Saturday evening. She was driving with a conditional license, had been convicted of operating under the influence in 2013, and is facing a new charge of OUI. The girl was taken to Central Maine Medical Center where she later died.

Thomas has a history of operating under the influence, which is why she had a conditional license. Her license had been suspended on August 17th, after Thomas was charged with operating under the influence with a prior OUI conviction a few days earlier. She was also charged with operating without a license during that incident. The license suspension was lifted on September 11th and she was given a conditional license that was due to expire next month.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
