Two people have been arrested in connection with the seizure of a large amount of heroin in Augusta.

Deputy Chief Jared Mills says the August PD's Bureau of Investigations was asked to assist probation officers on Tuesday morning for a probation check. When they arrived at the School Street home at 9:30, they arrested 28-year-old Lindsay Fortin of Augusta on a probation violation.

Police then searched the home and found drug paraphernalia and items associated with drug use, and over $7,800 in cash. The items were seized and a State Police K-9 was called in to assist with the search. The police dog helped to locate 81 grams of heroin with a street value of about $16,000.

Arrested was 24-year-old Brandon Darveau, who's charged with Aggravated Trafficking and also Criminal Forfeiture. His bail was set at $50,000 cash.
