A bad accident in Augusta has shut down a portion of North Belfast Avenue and interrupted electricity in the area.

UPDATE: North Belfast Avenue is back open.

Augusta Police and Fire Departments have completely shut down North Belfast Avenue, from Weeks Mills Road to Bolton Hill Road, due to a motor vehicle accident. Central Maine Power has also cut the power to the area, until the scene can be cleared. There's no word yet about the severity of the accident or whether anyone was injured.

Motorists are advised to seek another route, for their morning commute.

We'll update this story, as more details become available.
