Auburn Police say two people have been arrested in connection with an incident that resulted in one person suffering gunshot wounds.

When and Where Did The Shooting Take Place?

It was just after 12:30 Monday afternoon when Auburn Police answered a report of a shooting in the area of 752 Washington Street North. They had received multiple calls from residents who reported hearing gunshots and some who said they saw a male running from the scene who was bleeding. Still another call to the police department was from a man who told them he had been shot in the chest and arm. A quick search of the area resulted in officers locating three men who they say were allegedly involved in the incident, as well as a fourth man who allegedly fired the shots.

How Did the Shooting Happen?

Police say an initial investigation into the altercation revealed that three men, two of whom were known to the homeowner of 752 Washington Street, arrived at the residence in a car. They allegedly demanded money from the homeowner that was said to be proceeds from illegal drug sales. Two of the men approached the door and tried to force their way in, while allegedly threatening the homeowner. Police say the men were allegedly armed with a baseball bat and a firearm. The homeowner allegedly fired two shots from inside his home through the front door, striking 20-year-old Kameron Michaud of Augusta. Michaud was transported by Auburn Fire and Rescue to Central Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Who Was Arrested?

The 19-year-old homeowner was found to have an active traffic warrant unrelated to this incident. He was arrested on that outstanding warrant and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail.

Sebastian Barron, 20, of Augusta was charged with attempted robbery and transported to the Androscoggin County Jail, where bail was set at $2,000 cash. Police say the third man has not been charged in this incident.

This investigation is ongoing and Auburn Police say additional charges are expected.
