
Man Sentenced for Violent Assaut of an Auburn, Maine Teen
A Maine court have given a lengthy sentence to a man who kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.
Auburn, Maine Teen Was Abducted at Gunpoint in Broad Daylight
Razel Gavin pleaded guilty to kidnapping, gross sexual assault, aggravated assault, and aggravated attempted murder.
The charges stem from an incident in April 2022 when Razel Gavin used a gun to abduct a 13-year-old girl in broad daylight from a parking lot near her Auburn home.
One of the girl's friends reported a dropped call during which the victim seemed to be under duress. They told her parents, who reported their daughter missing.
Auburn, Maine Police Found the Teen Assault Victim the Day After She Was Kidnapped
When investigators went to her last known location, in the parking lot, they found the girl's phone, but there was no sign of her. Police searched the area after noticing a dark-colored Volvo station wagon with a male driver enter the parking lot around the time the girl went missing.
It was approximately 2:30 the next morning when the police finally caught up to the vehicle on Minot Avenue in Auburn and pulled the driver over. The missing girl was found inside the car with what the police called visible signs that she had been brutally assaulted.
She was taken to a local hospital and reunited with her family. The victim told officers that Gavin forced her into the vehicle by threatening her with a handgun and assaulted her repeately throughout the evening.

This week, a judge sentenced Razel Gavin to 56 years in prison.
In a Facebook post, Auburn Police Chief Jason Moen called this one of the 'most disturbing cases' they've ever investigated.
