ATV UTV Ride For A Cure Saturday in Hancock
Ride for a Cure is this Saturday. This will be the 2nd year of the event, held by Acadia Area ATVers to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
It’s a fun event to benefit Beth C Wright Cancer Resource Center and the American Cancer Society.
The cost to ride is $20, and registration begins Saturday morning at the Acadia Area ATVers Club House at 2 Wyman Road in Hancock. You can still order an official Ride For a Cure T-Shirt, but it will not arrive in time for Saturday’s ride, but the proceeds from the shirts sold will still benefit the event. There is an order form on the Ride for a Cure Facebook page.
Another way that the ride raises money is by decorating your ATV or UTV.
There is also a bra decorating contest, a raffle basket and a 50/50 draw.
Event Lead for Hancock County Relay for Life is Brandy Marchetti.
“Last year this event raised $3,600 and the goal this year is $5,000”
Brandy continues
“Cancer doesn’t stop and nor will any rain stop this event. The trail is for the most part, smooth trails and railroad beds and dirt roads. There is a spot or two that may be wet with some mud.”
Mud, so as ATVers call it, ‘fun’.
The length of the ride is 80 miles, which would on a normal day take about 3 hours. But this event takes longer due to stopping. The first stop about 20 minutes in, is for snacks. There’s a stop for gas too. And stops for photo opportunities. And to see the blueberry lands. And those snacks were so long ago, a stop to buy lunch too.
Let's go.
A fun day. And for a great cause. Ride For A Cure Saturday morning in Hancock.
