Hunters seeking to apply for an Any Deer Permit had the weekend to fill out their application after website issues were discovered last week.

The deadline for Any Deer Applications is today, August 20. According to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, last week "the Any Deer Application website became inoperative, and many applicants were unable to apply." After getting the website back up and running, hunters who were unable to access the website had five extra days to apply. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m.

An any-deer permit allows the permittee to hunt antlerless deer, or bucks with antlers less than three inches in length. There's no fee to apply for an any-deer permit. The drawing will be held September 7.

Those selected will be posted online. If you're selected you need to write down your corresponding any-deer permit number. It's suggested you keep that number with your hunting license so it's readily available when needed at a tagging station. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife no longer mails transportation tags or physical any-deer permits.
