Matthew Davis, who is charged with shooting Michael Kitchen and Heidi Pratt in their home then setting it on fire, was trying to have the trial moved to a venue outside the County, citing extensive pre-trial publicity about the case would make it difficult to get an impartial jury..

Aroostook County Superior Court Justice E. Allen Hunter heard the motion by Davis' attorneys, Daniel Lilley and Amber Tucker, to have the case moved, but denied the motion. He added the matter, however, could be "revisited" if sitting a jury proved to be difficult.

The 35-year old Davis is facing charges of murder, arson and theft for the September 2013 incident. He has been held without bail since being arrested that same day.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Sept. 1 with the trial scheduled to start on Sept. 6.
