A 16-year-old died after crashing his ATV in Belgrade over the weekend.

Where Was This?

The crash happened at the corner of Wings Mills and Manchester Roads in Belgrade on Sunday just before midnight. First responders from several local agencies found the 16-year-old bleeding from his mouth at the scene. His name has not been released, pending notification of his family.

How Did It Happen?

The Kennebec County Sheriff's Office reports the boy was riding a 1995 Polaris ATV and had sped past two vehicles. According to the Morning Sentinel, he had then struggled to make a right turn onto Wings Mills Road and was thrown from the ATV as the vehicle continued to speed off without him.

Was the Teen Wearing a Helmet?

First responders attempted but were unable to save the teen at the scene. Officials say he was not wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation.
