3 Maine Schools Win Don’t Quit Fitness Centers
Maine Gov. Janet Mills along with fitness icon Jake Steinfeld (Body by Jake) -- who is the Chairman of the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils -- made the announcement this week.
Congratulations to Deer Isle-Stonington Elementary School in Deer Isle, SeDoMoCha School in Dover-Foxcroft and Gorham Middle School in Gorham. They each win a state-of-the-art $100,000 Fitness Center.
The governor and Jake Steinfeld will make visits to each of the schools for ribbon cutting ceremonies this fall.
Governor Mills said
“The last year has proven just how important investing in the health of our students is to keeping our state strong. I congratulate these deserving schools on being selected to receive a state of the art fitness center and I thank them for their commitment to the health and well-being of Maine children”
This too is a program that does not rely on taxpayer dollars or any state funding. Each center is financed through public and private partnerships with companies throughout the country. The American-manufactured fitness equipment is all donated as well.
The foundation’s goal is to build a nation with the fittest, healthiest children in the world. Here is hoping we see a future Olympian or professional athlete come out of one of these schools.
Congratulations to the schools. Be proud and drop down and give me 10. Then give me your autograph.
