Police in the town of Jay say a 17-year-old has been arrested for allegedly shooting his 20-year-old brother.

Who Was Arrested?

A 17-year-old boy is now facing a felony charge after police say he shot his 20-year-old brother Tuesday afternoon. Police have not released the suspect's identity because he is a minor.

How Badly Was the Victim Hurt?

Police were called to a residence at 31 Pleasant Drive for a report of a shooting just before 1:00. When officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old with a gunshot wound. He was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center where WMTW-TV reports he was in stable condition.

What is the Teen Charged With?

An initial investigation into the shooting prompted police to arrest the victim's 17-year-old brother and charge him with aggravated assault, which is a class B felony. The teen was taken to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland.

Maine State Police are now assisting Jay Police in investigating the circumstances of the incident, including trying to determine the motive for the shooting.
