A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting Quoddy Head State Park and was amazed at the beauty!  Apparently so were the folks at Yankee Magazine!

The lighthouse within the park has been named Editor's Choice: Best Lighthouse by the magazine!  Here's what Yankee Magazine had to say about the West Quoddy Head Lighhouse and the State Park: "Visit the exhibits in the keeper’s house and climb the candy-striped tower; then picnic overlooking Grand Manan and hike the trails over the cliffs and around the bogs as you watch for birds and whales."

If you've never been to Quoddy Head State Park, then I highly recommend that you make the trip Downeast!  As a matter of fact, it's the eastern most point of the U.S.  The Lighthouse is amazing, and so is the view across the bay of the cliffs of Grand Manan!  The hiking trails are the epitome of Downeast Maine, with towering cliffs, pounding surf, beautiful plants, birds and wildlife!  The picnic area is very clean and picturesque, with tables nestled within a wooded area.

Admission to both Quoddy Head State Park and to the lighthouse is by donation.

Make sure during your departure that you visit the seaside town of Lubec too!

On my next trip to the area I plan to venture across the border into New Brunswick to take the ferry to Grand Manan!
