Red Sox fans will want to include a trip to either Bangor or Orono on their weekend plans, as the 2013 Commissioner’s Trophy comes to Maine. Earlier this month, Red Sox catcher David Ross was in Bangor, talking about last season. And now, the 2013 Commissioner’s trophy is coming to Maine, along with Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster.

Tiffany and Co creates the Commissioner's Trophy each year in its New Jersey workshop. The World Series trophy features 30 flags, one for each Major League Baseball team, latitude and longitude lines symbolizing the world, and 24-karat gold vermeil stitches representing those on a baseball.

The Trophy will be on display at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor Sunday, January 26th from  10am to noon in the ballroom. Free parking will be available to visitors in the Cross Insurance Center parking lots or in the top two tiers of the Hollywood Casino parking garage. Entry for the viewing, which is free and open to the public, will be through the clock-tower entrance to the facility.

The Commissioner's Trophy will then travel to Orono, where it will be available for public viewing in Alfond Arena from 2 to 4pm. Again, this event is free and open to the public and coincides with the "Skate With the Bears" event at the arena from 2:30 to 3:30. This is chance to meet and skate with members of the Maine Black Bear Hockey Team.
