A Woolwich couple died after a vehicle crossed the center line and struck their car. Several children were also injured.

According to WMTW-TV, the accident happened at around 6:00 Saturday night on Route 1 in Woolwich, near the Taste of Maine Restaurant. A vehicle driven by 33-year-old Danielle Ward of Rockport was traveling north when it veered into the oncoming lane and hit a car being driven by 70-year-old Robert Martin. He was killed in the accident, while his passenger, 76-year-old Carolyn Martin, was taken to a hospital. She later died of her injuries.

Ward had 7 children in the vehicle with her. She and 3 of the kids were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. Sagadahoc Sheriff's Deputies say a third vehicle was involved, but the driver and his passenger were not hurt.

There's no word on what caused Ward's vehicle to cross the center line.
