The body of a 50-year-old woman was pulled from the Mousam River Wednesday night, according to a news release from the Sanford Police Department.

The body has been identified as Lorilie Payeur of Sanford, the release said.

A passerby discovered Payeur's body floating near the Emery Street Bridge. Sanford firefighters and paramedics responded around 6 p.m. and Payeur was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Payeur's death is under investigation but it doesn't appear to be suspicious.

The state medical examiner's office is working to determine a cause of death.
