Wolves In Maine? [POLL]
Maine would be a great place for a thriving wolf community to frolic in the woods, eat and mate, but why aren’t they here?
Folks from the Maine Wolf Coalition believe that they are already here. In an article in the Bangor Daily News yesterday, John Glowa of the Maine Wolf Coalition says that “science tells us wolves are here”.
But, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service wants to remove the gray wolf from the Endangered Species Act here in Maine because they contend that they never lived in the eastern third of the country.
What do you think? Are they here in Maine?
I think so. Reason being is that I think that I saw one almost 25 years ago crossing Route 1A by the Winkumpaugh Road in outer Ellsworth. It was long and gray and had an arched back.
Regardless, they should be left alone. With so few, they should be given a chance to thrive.
