A Friday storm is bringing accumulating snow to the Bangor area. The heaviest snowfall is expected later in the day.

The National Weather Service in Caribou is forecasting five inches of snow for the Bangor area. The heaviest snowfall is expected to impact the area in the afternoon. The Downeast area can expect around three inches of snow.

Northern areas can expect 8-9 inches of snow.

Many schools around the state have canceled class for the day.

Driving conditions will be hazardous for the evening commute. Drivers are reminded to take it slow and leave plenty of space between them and the vehicle in front of them.
