The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for central and Downeast Maine for Sunday afternoon into Monday, with six to 10 inches of snow expected for the region.

The snow could mix with sleet and freezing rain, although forecasters are predicting the storm will bring another one-quarter inch of ice for the region. The weather alert will remain in effect from 3 p.m. Sunday to 7 a.m. Monday.

The storm would come at a bad time for power crews, who are working to restore electricity to thousands of households who lost power during an ice storm that hit just before Christmas.
