Wine & Whiskers to Support SPCA of Hancock County

A fun, elegant, and tasty event will be held next month in support of the SPCA of Hancock County. Wine, food, and a silent auction with some amazing prizes!

Let me start by saying I have to correct my news story today. I told you that the event is this weekend and it's not. It's actually being held on July 26th. I have no excuse except that they're both "j" months, dates in the 20's, and I'm an idiot. 'Nuff said!

Reservations are now being accepted for the Wine & Whiskers benefit and Auction that will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 on Saturday, July 26th. It's happening under a tent with a backdrop of the rolling fields of Sweet Pea's Farm in Bar Harbor.

Folks will sample passed hors d-oeuvres and there will be several food stations highlighting locally grown and sourced produce and food. The menu includes wood-fired pizza, local oysters and mussels, artisan cheeses, and organic produce and meats. Live music and a cash bar will round out this portion of the evening!

In addition, there's an amazing silent auction with prizes that are out of this world! You could bid on a ski vacation at the Whistler Fairmont in British Columbia, an all-inclusive stay at the beachfront Hilton Papagayo in Costa Rica, a 5-day stay at the famed W Barcelona in Spain, or a week at beautiful Villa Martini in Bali. In addition, there will be many local items up for bid like a private catered cocktail party in your home, dinner packages, and artwork.

This is the SPCA's largest fundraiser of the year and helps the organization operate. Funds will be used to help feed the animals, but also for vet bills, transportation, and to pay the staff.
