Why Does Everyone Keep Taking Cindy’s Red Coffee Cup?

I came in this morning with my mind on a piping hot cup of coffee to wake me up and shake off those weekend blahs. But for the second time in a few months, my coffee cup is nowhere to be found. Not funny when your alarm goes off at 3:15!

Now, understand, I'm not trying to be a whiner. But seriously, my day starts very early. And I work in a job where I try very hard not to make mistakes. I'm reporting on everything from fatal accidents to legal issues, and it's not well received if I mispronounce the names or get the details wrong. Coffee is a very, very important part of my pre-on-air routine!

A few months ago, we had a visitor at our station, that was here for a week. I heard my co-worker tell her it was fine to grab 'any cup' out of the kitchen so she could have coffee. But it wasn't until the next day that I realized she had taken MY red coffee cup! Since she was a visitor to our facility, and I was raised to be polite, I brushed it off. I knew where the cup was, after all, and that I'd be getting it back. So I just brought in a replacement cup to get me through the week. I had my coffee the next morning and all was right with the world.

Time went on, and I got complacent. No one had taken my cup in months, so I packed up the back-up cup and took it back home. It was a travel mug, and I wanted to have it at home in case I needed it. But then...it happened again!

I came into work this morning. A Monday, after a three-day weekend, when I have to remember that it's 2016 and not 2015. On may way to work, I debated picking up some coffee at Dunkin', but decided that I'd opt for the station coffee and my favorite red cup. I was looking forward to it as a way to warm up in our cold studio and wake up after a weekend of sleeping in.

So I was not happy when I went to the kitchen and found that someone had taken it! I've searched the building (quietly..no reason to make anyone feel guilty...unless they ARE) and it's nowhere to be found. My question is this; why is my cup so attractive? (I'd post a picture but I can't FIND the mug!) It's a simple red coffee cup, with a little fanciness around the bottom. I bought it at Walmart for, like, three bucks. It doesn't have any cute sayings, or pictures of pets. But apparently, it's the most appealing mug in the place.

I think I'll stop by the store on my way home and buy another back-up mug. I'll look for something distinctive. Maybe black or brown with some sort of ugly flowers on it. Or maybe I'll just get a Donald Trump mug. Something that others won't want to be seen carrying around the office!
