A group that helps homeless people make the transition to permanent housing will be collecting paper goods in Bangor on Saturday.

It's a joyous day when a formerly homeless person or family moves into permanent housing. But it's also a big challenge, because they have none of the everyday items that we take for granted. Sure, they need furniture and linens and cooking utensils. But they also need all the little things we use every single day, like paper towels and toilet paper.

So Welcome to Housing, a Bangor organization that helps provide all the things needed to set up housekeeping, holds the 'Winter White-Out Paper Drive' each year. This Saturday, from 10 to 3, volunteers will be at Shaw's Supermarket, on Main Street, collecting any paper goods that folks want to donate and handing out leaflets for the Welcome To Housing Home Goods Bank.

This is an excellent opportunity to get more information about how to donate larger items to the organization or how to volunteer your time, as well as drop off rolls of paper or towels. Find more information about how you can help on the Welcome To Housing Facebook page.
