American Folk Festival

7 p.m., Aug. 25 – 6:30 p.m., Aug. 27

The American Folk Festival kicks off Friday, Aug. 25 on the Bangor waterfront and runs through Sunday, Aug. 27. The event includes the music and dance from the many cultures that make up America. Here’s the full schedule.


Cool Sounds: Flash In The Pans

6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 24

The Cool Sounds Summer Concert Series continues on Thursday, Aug. 24, with Flash In The Pans. Based in Blue Hill, Flash In the Pans is one of the largest community steel bands in the country.

This preview of the Penobscot Theatre’s 2017-2018 season is free, but space is limited. You may reserve your seat via email. There is limit six seats per reservation.

Mount Hope Cemetery Walking Tour

Saturday, Aug. 26, 11 a.m.

Hear the stories of many people who were committed to anti-slavery and women’s rights causes. The cost is $7 per person.


Totality : Explore The Wonders of Eclipses

7 p.m. – 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 25

Take a special look at the August 21, 2017 Total Solar Eclipse and future ones visible here in Maine. The program includes a tour of the night sky as viewed from Maine. Tickets are $6 for adults, and $4 for children under 12.


Bangor Farmers Market

Sun, August 27, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Local farmers will be selling seasonal fruits and vegetables, naturally raised meats — including beef, pork and chicken — along with eggs, cheeses, baked goods, coffee, seedlings, cut flowers and more. The Sunday market is located across the street from the Bangor Public Library.


The Union Fair & Maine Wild Blueberry Festival will continue through Saturday, Aug. 26. There will be contests, live music, harness racing, fireworks, the Maine Wild Blueberry Queen Coronation and much more. Here’s the schedule of events.


Sunday Bunny Tales

11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 27

Each week, Miss Abby will read stories and lead a small activity geared toward 3-8 year olds.


Bar Harbor Ghost Tour

8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 26

Explore the stories behind Bar Harbor’s haunted history in this 90-minute walking tour. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children. More information.


Belfast Friday Artwalk

Friday, August 25, 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Explore imaginative art galleries that brighten up downtown, featuring both local and nationally recognized artists. Look for the ever-changing and always enticing ‘Farm to Gallery’ food tastings coordinated by Maine Farmland Trust.

Bonus item! 100 Mile Ride to Benefit the Smile for a Child Christmas Program


Been itching to go for a nice long motorcycle ride?

On Saturday 8/26 there will be a 100 mile ride to benefit the Smile for a Child Christmas program.

The ride will leave from Discount Mattress & Furniture at the Airport Mall in Bangor this Saturday at 10am to raise Christmas $$ & gifts for children in our area.

Riders are asked to bring a gift or make a donation of $20.

The ride will end Ends in Brewer with a 50/50 drawing, a Harley Davidson grill giveaway and lunch at a local Restaurant.
