WEEKEND TOP 10: American Folk Festival, Penobscot Theatre Preview + Eclipse Magic
There’s always lots of stuff going on in and around Bangor, so it can be hard to decide what to do. That’s where our Weekend Top 10 comes in.
The Cool Sounds Summer Concert Series continues on Thursday, Aug. 24, with Flash In The Pans. Based in Blue Hill, Flash In the Pans is one of the largest community steel bands in the country.

This preview of the Penobscot Theatre’s 2017-2018 season is free, but space is limited. You may reserve your seat via email. There is limit six seats per reservation.
Hear the stories of many people who were committed to anti-slavery and women’s rights causes. The cost is $7 per person.
Take a special look at the August 21, 2017 Total Solar Eclipse and future ones visible here in Maine. The program includes a tour of the night sky as viewed from Maine. Tickets are $6 for adults, and $4 for children under 12.
Bangor Farmers Market
Local farmers will be selling seasonal fruits and vegetables, naturally raised meats — including beef, pork and chicken — along with eggs, cheeses, baked goods, coffee, seedlings, cut flowers and more. The Sunday market is located across the street from the Bangor Public Library.
The Union Fair & Maine Wild Blueberry Festival will continue through Saturday, Aug. 26. There will be contests, live music, harness racing, fireworks, the Maine Wild Blueberry Queen Coronation and much more. Here’s the schedule of events.

Bonus item! 100 Mile Ride to Benefit the Smile for a Child Christmas Program
Been itching to go for a nice long motorcycle ride?
On Saturday 8/26 there will be a 100 mile ride to benefit the Smile for a Child Christmas program.
The ride will leave from Discount Mattress & Furniture at the Airport Mall in Bangor this Saturday at 10am to raise Christmas $$ & gifts for children in our area.
Riders are asked to bring a gift or make a donation of $20.
The ride will end Ends in Brewer with a 50/50 drawing, a Harley Davidson grill giveaway and lunch at a local Restaurant.
