Generally speaking, I don't really give a rat's patootie about politics. Like most Mainers, I just kind of check out what's going on, make my own opinions, and act accordingly. And I honestly can't say this situation really has anything specifically to do with politics, but this is actually one of over 1800 bills coming before state legislature in the upcoming year.

Should we change our license plates to say "Staycationland" instead of "Vacationland" as it currently does???

Not that my view on the subject matters a hill of beans, but let me be the first to say, this is duuuuumb. But what kills me, is that there are quite a few lawmakers who are potentially interested in this idea, says the Bangor Daily News. At the risk of sounding like a cranky stick-in-the-mud, I have to believe there are A) More important things to discuss and look into. And B) It's stupid.

Though I do agree that tourism can feel like a major inconvenience for us locals at times, it doesn't really change the fact that a chunk of the state's revenue is generated by folks who come here from away. So what if the little ditty on our license plates is geared more toward them than the residents?

Maybe they think changing it will attract folks to move here? Maybe they think in this day and age of constant inclusion, that somehow locals are feeling left out? Maybe someone hates the letter V? Not sure.... But, I'm curious what YOU think. Take our poll down below and make your voice heard!!!
