Oakland police are investigating a weekend motorcycle accident that left a Waterville man with serious injuries.

Oakland police Sgt. Tracey Frost told the Kennebec Journal the accident on Snow Pond Road was discovered by a passerby just after midnight Sunday morning.

Frost said the victim, Michael Klaiber, 33, was found lying on the ground unconscious.

Police said Klaiber suffered serious external injuries that were possibly life threatening.

Police are still working to determine what led up to the accident. Frost said police are investigating whether speed, alcohol or another vehicle were involved in the wreck.
