Efficiency! Ask any factory manager or board of directors of a company and they'll tell you that efficiency is key in maximizing profits. They may also tell you that one sure way to maximize is to remove the human element where and whenever possible, and that robots are the perfect replacement for flesh and blood.

True story: About 12 years ago I lost a radio job to computer technology. It was then that I realized how insecure my working future would be in the broadcast industry. Could it happen again? Absolutely! But when you see robots in action, you sort of see why companies would opt for such technology. Think about it...robots take no sick days, no vacations, no lunch breaks, they don't complain or want to unionize, and aside from a little maintenance now and again, they'll work 24 hours a day--365 days a year.

Just watch these factory robots in action and tell me if you could ever keep up. Scary, really.
