Bangor police on Wednesday arrested a Bangor man on charges of domestic violence assault after an investigation into alleged child abuse.

Theodore Ellsworth, 41, was released on $500 bail from the Penobscot County Jail. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His arrest came after a concerned citizen provided information about a video posted to a social media site, according to a news release form the Bangor Police Department. Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division reviewed the video were subsequently able to track down the parties involved.

Ellsworth reportedly is shown in the video holding the boy down and wrapping electrical tape around his face, according to court documents. He reportedly told police he was correcting his son after the boy attempted to put tape in his sister's hair.

Department of Health and Human Services has been notified.

Police have not yet released information about the contents of the video.
