A Veazie woman and a man from New York are facing charges for allegedly selling oxycodone out of a Bangor hotel.

The investigation has been ongoing for several months, and centered around a room at the Comfort Inn, located on Bangor Mall Boulevard. Undercover drug agents were able to purchase oxycodone from individuals in the room, and that resulted in the execution of a search warrant Thursday night.

Seized in that search were approximately 260 Oxycodone 30 mg pills, with a street value of $8,000. In addition, agents located nearly $40,000 in cash, suspected of being proceeds from the sale of the drugs in the room.

Charged with Class B Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Oxycodone) were 25-year-old Steve Abreau, also known as 'Swift' of the Bronx and 32-year-old Meredith Perrone of Veazie. Abreau's bail was set at $70,000 cash while Perrone's bail was set at $25,000 cash. They're expected to make their first court appearance today in Bangor.

Drug agents received substantial support during this investigation from the Bangor Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.

Commissioner Peter Arno said in a press release that MDEA would like to remind the public and hotel operators that local hotels/motels are often used by out of state drug traffickers as a place to conduct their illegal business. Frequently the rooms are rented on behalf of the traffickers by local individuals and not the traffickers themselves. If you see suspicious activity in and around hotels/motels that you feel could be related to drug trafficking, you're urged to contact the MDEA field office nearest you, or call the MDEA Drug Tip Hotline at 800-452-6457.
