Vandalism To Bus Fleet Closes RSU 16 Schools

Vandalism to the RSU 16 school bus fleet has forced administrators to close schools for the day.

According to a post on the department's Facebook page, the tires on all the Poland buses and trucks were slashed. School officials say it doesn't appear there was any other damage to the vehicles. An order has been called in for new tires and mechanics will be working all day to have the buses repaired and ready for school on Thursday.

In addition, tonight's Elementary Band Concert has had to be postponed. Administrators say, at this point, the missed day will need to be made up, but they plan to work with the State to see if there's any chance for a waiver.

Officials say they have a security system and hope it will provide evidence about who slashed the tires.
