UMaine Student Dies In Cadillac Mountain Crash [UPDATE]
A University of Maine student died Sunday as the result of a motorcycle accident on the Cadillac Mountain Summit Road.
According to the Mount Desert Islander, the accident happened at around 4:30 p.m. as the man was coming down the mountain. Witnesses say the Saudi Arabian man was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing other vehicles. He lost control of the bike on a curve and crashed.
An ambulance took the man, identified as Abdulrahman Alamer, 21, of Orono to a Bar Harbor hospital and he was taken by helicopter to a Bangor hospital where he later died.
The accident closed the Summit Road for several hours. Police continue to investigate.
