A tired driver was the cause of a rollover in Kennebec County on Saturday.  Maine State Police say two teenagers and one adult are lucky to be alive.

Troopers with Troop D responded to High Street in West Gardiner for a two-vehicle crash. Police say the two minors in the SUV were wearing their seatbelts, which prevented them from being ejected and they only suffered minor injuries.

Investigators say the crash occurred because the driver of the sedan was falling asleep and crossed over the center line. His car struck the SUV, which was trying to avoid the crash.

The operator of the sedan was issued a summons for failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle.  No names have been released

The Maine State Police says this serves as an important reminder that seatbelts can save lives.
