Two teenagers are facing at least 40 combined charges for a vandalism spree that included slashing many vehicle tires.

Augusta Police Deputy Chief Jared Mills says the department has responded to several reports of tires being slashed over the past few days. An investigation over the weekend led police to catch 19-year-old Dennis Morton and a 16-year-old male accomplice, both of Augusta, in the act.

The two youths are now charged with a total of 40 criminal violations, including 18 counts each of criminal mischief for damage caused to vehicles throughout the city. In addition, each of the teens was charged with one count of criminal mischief for damage sustained to property they had stolen, and one count each of theft.

Now, police are asking for anyone whose tires were slashed in the city of Augusta over the past few days, and who may not have reported it, to notify the Police Department at 626-2370. An officer will follow-up to determine whether it's related to this crime spree.
