Two people were killed when a car and tractor-trailer collided on the Maine Turnpike near Kennebunk Friday, police said.

The wreck occurred in the northbound lanes of the road at mile 22, State police said in a news release Friday evening.

The release did not identify the victims, and police have't said what caused the collision.

In a separate accident Friday on the Maine Turnpike, a man was ejected from the car he was riding in when the vehicle struck the guard rails in the median, the release said.

Police said the car was driving erratically just before the accident, which occurred in the southbound lanes at mile 24, near the Kennebunk service plaza.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
