Two Hospitalized In Head-On Crash In Dayton

State police say two drivers involved in a crash on Route 35 in Dayton were able to avoid serious injuries thanks to seat belts.

A white Nissan Versa crossed the center line and crashed into a silver Toyota Corolla at about 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police said in a news release.

The operator of the Nissan, Jessica Dilboy, 35, of Lyman, fell asleep behind the wheel, crossed the center line and crashed head-on into the Toyota, the release said. She suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Toyota was driven by Kim Hammersley, 65, of East Waterboro. She suffered a broken rib in the accident. Her passenger, Gary McNeil, 62, also of East Waterboro, suffered minor injuries and did not require a trip to the hospital.

Both Hammersley and Dilboy were taken to Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford for treatment.

Police said everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt and that likely prevented more serious injuries.
