Two men are charged with drug trafficking as the result of a month-long investigation. In addition to the arrests, drug agents seized thousands in heroin and cash.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that a search warrant was served on the evening of January 15th at a residence on the Webb Pond Road in Eastbrook. MDEA agents with the Hancock County Sheriff's office, Ellsworth and State Police searched the home occupied by Sheldon Alley, age 30. The result was the seizure of about 115 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of $40,000. Also seized was about $2,200 in cash, which is suspected of being the proceeds from illegal drug sales, a video surveillance system, and 2 firearms.

Alley is charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (Heroin). Also arrested that night was Paul Colbeth, age 35 of Sorrento, who's been charged with one count of Class B Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs. (Heroin)

MDEA Commander Peter Arno said the seizure was significant and indicative of a disturbing trend in the prevalence of heroin in Hancock County and other communities in Maine. He said the agency stands committed to working with all law enforcement agencies in keeping all illicit drugs off the streets.

McCausland says the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected. Anyone with information about drug trafficking is urged to contact their local police department, the MDEA office nearest them, or by calling the MDEA tip line at 1-800-452-6457, if they wish to remain anonymous.
