A 17-year-old from Troy pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Friday in the March 2015 stabbing death of his father.

Colby Hodgdon has been held at the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland since he was arrested and charged with murder in April 2015.

On Friday, Hodgdon pleaded guilty in Belfast District Court to a lesser charge of manslaughter.

He received a suspended eight-year jail sentence, but will remain at the juvenile detention center until he turns 21 on a separate conviction in an assault at the facility.

The teen also was ordered to serve probation for four years after his release from Long Creek.

He was charged with stabbing his father, Steven Hodgdon, 49, to death in their Rutland Road home on March 6, 2015.
