Hi, my name is Cindy and I'm a treasure hunter. Of course, my idea of treasure hunting is a metal detector, headphones, a digger, and a pair of gloves. And I find things like this 1905 Barber dime. Far from the craziness that's going on in New Mexico where a Santa Fe Art dealer claims he hid a chest full of gold coins and jewels!

Yahoo! reports that Forrest Fenn claims to have stashed the treasure in mountains north of Santa Fe. Not surprisingly, treasure hunters are descending on the area, desperate to find the literal "pot of gold."

But the area being searched includes the Santa Fe National forest, where it's illegal to dig without a permit. And a spokesman for the Department of Game and Fish says the same goes for state land. Plus, even if you DO find the treasure, you may not be able to keep it! Finders, in the world of treasure, are not always keepers.

Mostly authorities are worried about the safety of searchers. A woman from Texas got lost in the mountains last month after seeing reports of the treasure on TV. She was found safe and sound the next day.

Too crazy for me! I'll stick to my metal detector and "treasures" like this collapsible cup I found in Brewer that dates back to the late 1800's. I guess I prefer the hobby over chasing a "get rich quick" rumor that I'm guessing will turn out to be a hoax!
