As a storm packing as much as two feet of snow works its way into Maine, weather officials are warning of hazardous travel late Saturday and Sunday.

The storm is expected to bring 12-18 inches of snow to the Bangor area and much of eastern Maine. Snow is expected to start at around 1 a.m. Sunday. Areas north of Bangor can expect 18-24 inches.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning valid from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday for the region.

Travel could be "very difficult to impossible," with areas of blowing snow that could significantly reduce visibility and cause hazardous travel.
