State police say they seized a substantial amount of cocaine and heroin during a traffic stop early Thursday morning on the Maine Turnpike.

Police discovered the drugs around 2:30 a.m. after stopping a car in York for a traffic violation.

With the help of a drug dog, troopers located 72 grams of cocaine and 15 grams of heroin, state police said in a news release Thursday.

A man riding in the vehicle, Irvin Philmore, 50, of Fort Lee, New Jersey, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in drugs.

He was taken to the York County Jail. Bail was set at $50,000.
