Who better to headline a tropical music festival than Kenny Chesney? The seasoned beach bum has been tapped as the country closer for the first-ever Tortuga Music Festival, which is set to to place in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on April 13 and 14, 2013.

The two-day beachside party will be sponsored by Rock the Ocean, an organization dedicated to supporting scientific research and education and increasing public awareness about the issues impacting the world's oceans.

The goodwill effort of the event was the core selling point for Gary Allan, who has also been confirmed as a performer.

"I've been hearing about this festival for a while now and am excited to be a part of it," Allan says. (quote via CMT). "I grew up going to the beach every day when I was younger, so protecting the beaches and marine conservation have always been something close to my heart."

Country acts also expected to perform are Kip Moore and Eli Young Band, with country-rockers the Avett Brothers, Gary Clark Jr., Michael Franti & Spearhead, G. Love & Special Sauce and Sister Hazel also confirmed for the eclectic 2013 Tortuga Festival lineup.

Chesney will launch his 2013 No Shoes Nation Tour just weeks before his appearance at the Tortuga Festival, kicking off his highly-anticipated headlining outing on March 16 in Tampa, Fla. The tour will feature Eric Church, Zac Brown Band, Kacey Musgraves and EYB as opening acts.

Tickets for the 2013 Tortuga Festival will go on sale on Dec. 15 through the event's official website.
