Maine State Police are advising motorists to start preparing themselves and their vehicles for winter driving.

Last year at this time, we had a foot of snow! And it always amazes me how people are caught off-guard, even though they know it's coming. It's like they forget how to prepare and how to drive once the snow hits.

So, this year, State Police are offering a reminder that, just because it hasn't snowed yet, it will soon! There are some excellent tips listed here, including the repetitious 'SLOW DOWN!' I would add to never leave home without your cell phone so you can call for help, should you need it. I learned this last year when I found myself in a snow bank at 4:30 in the morning, on my way to work. If I hadn't had that cell phone, I would've been waking someone up!

Enjoy the warmer weather this week because snow will be here before we know it!
