In an act of complete generosity and thoughtfulness, superstar Tim McGraw has postponed his concert at the Kansas Star Arena in Wichita, Kansas this weekend in order to ensure Toby Keith‘s Oklahoma Twister Relief Concert takes precedence in the country music fan community.

The ‘Southern Girl’ singer and the venue management said via a press statement that the show, originally scheduled for Sunday (July 7), will be moved to Oct. 12 in order to “avoid a conflict with the tornado relief fundraising concert in Norman” on Saturday (July 6).

“While we were looking forward to hosting Tim McGraw this weekend, helping our neighbors in their time of need must take precedence,” says Scott Cooper, general manager of the Kansas Star Casino, which houses the arena.

“We encourage everyone to support the artists donating their time and talents at this Saturday’s concert in Oklahoma,” he adds, “and we look forward to hosting Tim at the Kansas Star Arena in October.”

Joe Nichols was booked to open for McGraw, but cannot make the rescheduled date, so a replacement act will be scheduled.

Although the fans who were planning to attend McGraw’s concert will most likely be disappointed by the delay, it’s a truly admirable move on the singer’s part. This is just another reason why he’s not only a worldwide superstar — but also a truly great example to so many.

On July 4, the singer will headline the Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular with Taylor Swift and Mariah Carey. And, fans who were expecting to sing along with McGraw in Kansas this weekend will still have their chance, since it’s a televised event!
