Three men in Waldoboro were arrested on crack cocaine, heroin and gun charges Wednesday night.

According to Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, an investigation into the distribution of drugs in Lincoln and Knox counties led police to the home of 45-year-old Alphonso Belnavis and 48-year-old Dean Feltis.

McCausland says 28 grams of crack cocaine, 1 gram of heroin, an AR15 rifle, 200 rounds of ammunition and $2,500 in cash were recovered from the home on Flanders Corner Road.

Belnavis was charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine. Feltis was charged with unlawful possession of Heroin.

26-year-old Jeffrey Aviles of the Bronx, New York was also arrested at the home. Police say he had been making regular trips from New York to Waldoboro to distribute crack and heroin. Aviles was charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

The men allegedly tried to destroy the drugs and flee the home when police arrived. Police say Feltis was tackled by officers and arrested on the back deck. The other suspects were taken into custody inside the home.

All three men were taken to the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.
