Three Arrested in Waldoboro for Trafficking in Oxycodone

Chamberlain, Atkinson (Maine State Police)

Two men and a teenager are facing charges for trafficking in Oxycodone. State police say that the arrests follow a three-month long investigation into the trafficking of Oxy in Lincoln County.

James Chamberlain, 39, of Waldoboro and Louis Atkinson, 24, of Greene are charged with Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W drugs (Oxycodone). Chamberlain is also charged with violating his bail for an unrelated assault charge. Also charged was a 17-year-old Waldoboro man.

The arrests were made on the evening of Saturday, October 19th, as the two adults were in the process of selling Oxycodone to the teenager as they were parked along Route 1 in Waldoboro in Chamberlain’s 2003 Chevy Impala.

A search of the car resulted in the seizure of a loaded 9mm handgun, 342-count 30 milligram Oxycodone pills, and $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds. ┬áThe investigation revealed that Atkinson had allegedly been bringing the drugs to Maine from New York for distribution in Lincoln County. He’s originally from New York City and had just recently moved to Greene.

The average price of an Oxycodone pill is between $45 and $50 dollars, making the street value of the seized pills over $150,000.

Chamberlain and Atkinson were taken to the Twin Bridges Jail in Wiscasset, where Chamberlain was denied bail due to his violation of bail on the previous assault charge. Atkinson’s bail was set at $25,000 cash bail or $100,000 surety. The teenager received a summons for a future court appearance.

Officers from the Waldoboro Police Department and Wardens from the Maine Warden Service also assisted in the search over the weekend.
