A 19-year-old woman from Thomaston is charged with manslaughter after an accident that killed her passenger.

WABI-TV reports Kelsey Campbell is also charged with aggravated criminal OUI and operating beyond license conditions or restrictions. The charges stem from an accident in May of 2017 in which Campbell's vehicle was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 131 in Thomaston. Investigators with the Knox County Sheriff's Office said that Campbell attempted to pass another vehicle when she lost control of her car. It went off the road and struck some trees before rolling over several times.

A passenger in the car, 21-year-old Zachary Elwell of St. George, died at the scene after being thrown from the vehicle. Campbell and another passenger, 19-year-old Austin Jurkowski of St. George were both taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities say Campbell's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
