State police have arrested the boyfriend of a woman who was shot to death in the parking lot of a grocery store in Bath last November, said Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

Dylan Grubbs, 23, of Thomaston, was charged with manslaughter following his indictment by the Sagadahoc County grand jury on Thursday.

Grubbs’ girlfriend, Chelsea Jones, 22, was shot in the head while she sat in the couple's car outside the local Shaw’s supermarket, said McCausland.

Police say the two had driven to the shopping center to meet a prospective buyer for her handgun. According to investigators, Grubbs was outside the vehicle showing the gun to the buyer when it went off.

Grubbs also was indicted on a charge of possessing a firearm by a prohibited person.

Grubbs was arrested at his home on Booker Street in Thomaston on Thursday and taken to the Two Bridges Jail in Wiscasset.

The date of his initial court appearance will be determined on Friday.
