You may have watched Cara Mund, Miss North Dakota, win the Miss America Pageant last night.  But, did you know that a woman whom you may watch anchor the television news every night here in Bangor competed at one time on the same stage, as Miss Massachusetts?

Yup!  Taylor Kinzler, WABI TV 5 co-anchor of the nightly 6 o'clock news,  competed in the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas back in 2013!  Pretty cool, eh?  We think so!

Taylor, from Lakeville, Massachusetts, was 20 years-old at the time and majoring in journalism at the University of Rhode Island where she was also a sideline reporter for the school's sports program.

According to an 2013 article published in the Tauton Daily Gazette, Taylor missed out on the Miss Massachusetts title twice before finally winning it and then moving along to compete for the Miss America title.  "My message to everyone out there is that you can achieve everything you set your mind to. ’m living proof of that. I’ve learned so much from this. The biggest thing I want people to know is you really can achieve your goals”, Taylor said in the article.

On her Miss America contestant page, she said that her career ambition was "to host my own talk show."  Well, she ain't there yet but the nightly news is pretty close!

Even though in the 2013 video above she talks about how much better Massachusetts lobsters are than Maine's, and even though she may not have won the crown in the  Pageant, Taylor Kinzler is still a big winner in our books!
