The Orono Bog Boardwalk is open for the season.

This morning the Orono Bog Boardwalk officially opened for its 16th season. Over the past few weeks, volunteers have been hard at work getting the bog walk ready for the season. They've been replacing broken sections of the boardwalk, adding more wheelchair accessibly features and uncovering kiosk signs.

Ben Sprague, Mayor and Chair of the Bangor City Council was apart of the opening festivities. According to his Facebook post, the Bog Boardwalk has been visited by over 350,000 people from all 50 states, and more than 30 countries since it opened in 2003.

The Orono Bog Boardwalk loop trail is about one mile. To protect the environment and wildlife, dogs are not allowed. The Bog Boardwalk is open 7AM-6:30PM daily.
